Posta Rangers part ways with Luvutsi, Okoti and Oluoch

Kenyan Premier League side Post Rangers have parted ways with veteran utility player Humphrey Okoti as the local transfer window entered the second day.

Okoti who has previously had stints with Tusker and Sofapaka, is among three players whose contract with the mailers elapsed last week and will not be renewed.

The other two are former Thika United and Bandari midfielder Michael Luvutsi and attacking midfielder Felix Oluoch who previously played for Chemelil Sugar.

“Contract for the three players have expired and the club will not renew them, so they will not be playing for Posta Rangers next season.

We may drop about six more in the cause of the week after consultations with the head coach,” said Team Manager John Wakhu.

Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars management is excited by the fact that 18 players who helped the team earn promotion back to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) are still in the club’s books for next season.

Speaking to People Sports yesterday, club Chief Executive Patrick Korir said the number could be more than the current 18, should a few more of the out of contract players choose to remain in the team once discussions conclude.

“The core unit that kept Simba wa Nairobi at the top of the NSL for a better part of the season to eventually promote the team is still intact heading to next season.

This is important as it guarantees us continuity,” said Korir.

He added: “When we started out last season a number of players were on one-year engagements but mid-way through we extended those contracts as the view to the Premier League became crystal clear.

Just two teenagers – striker Vincent ‘Jamaica’ Otieno and midfielder Elvis Ojiambo started out with long term deals.

Part of the early players to extend their contracts were defender Wycliffe Otieno who added another year as well as midfielder Anthony Kimani, long serving defender Calvin Masawa, defensive mid Charles Otieno Oduro and striker Davis Agesa who committed to a further two years.”
