Preparations in top gear for Sunday Nakuru prayers

Preparations are in top gear for the National Thanksgiving Prayers to be held on Sunday in Nakuru county.

The event is expected to be graced by President William Ruto who will lead the Kenya Kwanza administration in the prayers, a first in the county after being elected.

Governor Susan Kihika while touring the Nakuru Athletics Club alongside elected county leaders where the prayers will be conducted said all was set for the national event.

“We are here to check on the preparations of the prayers that we have been arranging for the past several weeks of which the President together with other leaders are expected to attend,” said Kihika.

Kihika said the purpose of the prayers was to give thanks to God for the continued peace the county and the country at large have had since being sworn into office.

“We are co-hosting with all counties in the Rift Valley, we are inviting all the great people of Nakuru to come and be with us on Sunday to join us in this thanksgiving prayer,” said Kihika.

On her part, Gilgil MP Martha Wangari said they expect to have at least 20,000 people at the prayer service saying it will go a long way in dedicating the nation to God.

Wangari called on Kenyans to turn up in large numbers and give thanks for the far the nation had come, and also pray for prosperity.

“We are collaborating with some other 13 counties to ensure this is a success, and we expect to have national leaders from all levels of governance present,” said Wangari.

Echoing similar sentiments Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria said there was a need to extend the invitation to opposition leaders since it was a national event.

According to Gikaria, there was a need to have everyone on board saying that the same may assist in stopping the current rallies being organized by the Azimio brigade was not good for the country.
