President Magufuli’s sudden demise leaves music industry shell-shocked

T he Tanzanian music fraternity remains deeply cut by the sudden demise of their President John Pombe Magufuli.

They turned to their social media pages in grief after the announcement, led by star Diamond Platnumz, who posted the late president’s photo, exclaiming in disbelief followed by tear emojis.  

Already, other artistes have put their foot forward, composing songs about the fallen leader.

Rayvanny, known for the song, Kiuno, has since recorded and released a dirge praising the late. In the song, Kifo, the artiste laments the passing of the president, whom he claims was the light of the country. 

Sukari hit maker, Zuchu shared on her Instagram page, “Allahu Akbar, Yarabbiii, I am hurt, am hurt, am hurt daaa, inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.”

Barna Classics shared “I have not slept, I can’t sleep. I have tried writing even a song today but since I got this news for the very first time I can’t do it.

I have gotten a light heart today and this has never happened in my life....” Read the post. 

AY was straight to the point with his message, “Mungu Akulaze Mahali Pema Peponi Rais Wetu Magufuli.” 

Others who sent their tributes include Ali Kiba, Ommy Dimpoz, Mwana Fa and Vannesa Mdee.

Kenyan artists also took to their social media pages to condole with Tanzanians on their loss.

Award winning group Sauti Sol on their Instagram page shared, “Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and people of Tanzania following the demise of President John Pombe Magufuli. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace,”.

Nyashinski also shared on his Instagram a photo of the late president along with his condolences reading...” RIP President John Pombe Magufuli.
