President William Ruto is set to jet out of the country on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, for a two-day State visit to the Republic of Rwanda.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announced that the visit followed the initiation of President Paul Kagame with the main agenda being infrastructural development such as the Northern Corridor integration project.

"At the invitation of his host, President Paul Kagame, the two Heads of State are expected to deliberate on areas of mutual interest and cooperation, including the Northern Corridor integration projects, food security, innovation and ICT, health and education," Mohamed said.

"The visit is further expected to enhance trade and commerce cooperation within the East Africa Community (EAC) and the African continent, as the two leaders re-affirm their commitment to EAC integration and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) cooperation for trade and economic growth. Regional peace and security will also feature in the discussions that will culminate in the signing of bilateral agreements," he added.

The trip comes less than a week after Ruto jetted back to the country from a four-day official tour to Germany and Belgium.

In Europe, Ruto focused on deepening trade ties between Kenya and the European Union. In Germany, he met President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Ruto also delivered a keynote address at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue.

In Belgium, Ruto met Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium, and they discussed mutual areas of interest including health, Kenya’s food security and drought response, climate action, trade and investment.
