The inmates drilled a hole through the wall

Police in Bungoma are pursuing ten inmates who escaped from Bungoma Police Station on Sunday morning by drilling a hole through a brick wall.

The eleven prisoners held for different crimes drilled a hole to their 'freedom' using an iron rod, although one of them was later recaptured.

The inmates were remandees awaiting to be arraigned for various crimes ranging from robbery with violence to defilement.

According to a police report, the robbery with violence escapees are Brian Ochieng and John Wanyonyi.

Also among them are Simon Wekesa, Collins Juma Nyukuri, and Emmanuel Wakoko who are facing assault charges.

Another escapee Clerkson Otieno is facing burglary charges. Three others are facing stealing charges, and they are; John Barasa Wekesa, Alex Simiyu Muyekho, and Isaac Wekesa.

The rest two Bramwel Barasa and Pascal Kiberenge are facing defilement and impersonation charges respectively.

Police shot Isaac Wekesa on the leg and he is receiving treatment under police custody.
