The National celebrations Committee has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Mashujaa Day Celebrations preparation both in Mwea and Kerugoya towns of Kirinyaga county.

Led by its Chairman, Dr Karanja Kibicho, the committee has said that the preparations have surpassed 90 per cent in all areas earmarked to celebrate the event at Kirinyaga county.

Dr Kibicho who is also the Interior principal secretary said that the preparations have now entered the final phase with Wang'uru stadium complete by 95 per cent and beautification and infrastructural renovation in Kerugoya mini-state lodge complete by around 98 per cent.

The stadium is expected to be handed over to the state for final preparations by the end of this week.

Kibicho said that Wang'uru town, which will host the event will also undergo branding with billboards bearing messages of welcoming the president as well as members of the public erected by the end of Wednesday, October 13.

"We have agreed to only put up two categories of billboards across the town, one bearing the president's image and the other, the governor's image to represent the county," the PS noted.

Speaking to the press in Wang'uru stadium, Kibicho added that invitation cards have since been dispatched to all the invited guests.

At the same time, he rallied on the locals who have not been invited to the stadium to follow the proceedings from home so as to avert the spread of covid 19.

"We can only allow a maximum of 2,000 Kenyans into the stadium, so we continue appealing to uninvited Kenyans particularly the locals, to stay at home as we will have a semi virtue event," the PS explained.

Deputy county governor Peter Ndambiri affirmed the county government's commitment in handling its roles as he noted that the county was ready to welcome all the invited guests.
