Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has left the country for a one-week tour in several foreign countries.

In a statement on Sunday, October 16, Raila said he will begin his trip with a visit to India.

"Baba (Raila Odinga) has left the country for a week's visit to several nations starting with India; see you all when I’m back," Raila said.

The former prime minister, however, didn't disclose some of the other nations he is scheduled to visit.

The trip to India comes days after Raila and his wife Ida Odinga held a meeting with the country's new High Commissioner to Kenya Namgya Khampa.

Raila, in a statement on Friday, October 14, said his talks with Khampa centred on strengthening ties between Kenya and India.

"The strong bond and ties between our nations formed the core of our discussion as we hosted India's new High Commissioner to Kenya, Namgya Khampa," Raila said.

Raila hits back at Ruto

Meanwhile, the opposition leader has told off President William Ruto over his comments regarding his criticism of the current high cost of living.

Ruto on Sunday blamed the current economic crisis on Raila who he said had abandoned his role as opposition leader and gone to bed with the previous administration.

"Wale ambao tulishindana na wao, mimi nataka niwaambie watulize boli, mambo bado," Ruto said during an interdenominational prayer service at Kericho Green Stadium in Kericho County.

While responding to Raila's claims on failing to fulfil campaign promises, Ruto said that he had inherited a dilapidated economy from former President Uhuru Kenyatta and asked for more time to fix things.

"Uchumi ilikuwa imesambaratika, tuko na madeni kutoka hapa hadi sijui wapi. Kilimo ilikuwa imeharibika mpaka bei ya unga ikafika zaidi ya shilingi mia mbili, mambo ya usalama yakiluwa yamezoroteka mili ya watu inapatikana kule River Yala," Ruto told congregants.

In a quick rejoinder, Raila said: "Can William Ruto & Kenya Kwanza stop it with the lamentations?"
