Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has insisted that he must visit Shakahola despite being barred from accessing the site on Friday, May 5, 2023.

While addressing a crowd on Saturday, May 5, 2023, the opposition leader noted that he was asked not to access Shakahola because the area was infested with demons.

He, however, insisted that he must return to that place so that he is able to witness for himself.

"Nilijitokeza nikawaambia ya kua nataka niende Shakahola nione, niliambiwa nisiende Shakahola, ati kuna shetani. Nikasema ndio sababu nataka niende nikaonane na shetani.

"Sikujua ya kwamba nlihitaji kibali ya kuenda pahali kuna maafa manake pahali ambapo kuna maafa ndo watu wanatakikana waende huko,"

Raila further queried why the State was determined to ensure that access to limited to the site.

Raila blocked from Shakahola

The Azimio leader was on Friday blocked from accessing the site where hundreds of bodies were recovered.

At the time, the officers who enforced the restrictions noted that they were acting on orders from above.

Raila had been accompanied by coastal leaders including Kilifi woman representative Gertrude Mbeyu, MPs Amina Mnyanzi( Malindi) and Harrison Kombe (Magarini).

"The Shakahola incident has caught the world's attention. I haven't seen anywhere else where there have been reports of cults (and) the media is blocked. Why did the government ban the media and human rights from the ground? I don't need anyone's permission to get there and I had even made my visit public," Raila said.
