Raila promises interest free loans to SMEs ahead of 2022 polls

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has promised to give small and medium enterprises (SMEs) interest free loans should he be elected next year as Kenya's president.

Speaking during his Coast tour on Tuesday , Raila said his government will give SMEs seven years period to repay the loan.

"Inawezekana (it is possible)," Raila told coast residents.

Raila also promised to implement policies that will spur economic growth.

He also said his government will provide free medical coverage for vulnerable families and defended his Ksh6000 monthly social welfare program.

"Some are saying my social welfare program will not work. Who told them so?" He posed.

Raila started his 3-day coastal tour on Monday where he was expected to tour three counties including Lamu, Mombasa and Kilifi.
