Rapper G-Konirked by MCSK’s Sh1,022 royalties payment

Hip-hop artiste G-Kon has a big bone to pick with collective management organisation Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).

The Iokote Chini hit rapper has taken offense on his latest royalties payout by the MCSK, citing disrespect and corruption at the agency.

Last week, G-Kon received a meager Sh1,022 as royalties, which he wasn’t happy about.

“I recieved my Sh1,022 on Friday night, and I was really shocked to receive that little amount.

We artistes have been fighting for years for the increase in the royalties payments, but despite our efforts, no change has been realised.

The Kenya Copyright Board should do thorough scrutiny on MCSK just to find out what was collected versus what is being distributed.

Once we know the difference, a quick readjustment must be done. We are tired of receiving peanuts in the name of royalties, and we’ve cried for far too long now. It’s time for action!” he told Spice
