Rapper King Kaka gets vocal against Gender-Based Violence
Rapper King Kaka has stepped up his desire to be a firm anti-gender-based violence crusader by releasing a new nine-part music series dubbed Diana.
Running between one minute and 20 seconds to four minutes per episode, the series will exclusively feature on the recently launched digital platform Baze by Safaricom.
The musical also features Marini Naturals founder Michelle Ntalami—who plays Diana, a typical Nairobian girl who falls in love with a guy while still in a relationship with his friend Alvin (Robert Agengo), an issue that ends in a violent scenario.
“The series tackles societal issues surrounding gender-based violence (GBV) and how it has become rampant over the past years.
It also covers multiple layers that surround the discussion,” said King Kaka, adding that with the rise in GBV, it’s important to promote education on it to reduce stigma of victimisation within the community.
“We all have a responsibility to take collective action against harmful gender and social norms, and to empower both men and women recognise, address and prevent acts of GBV,” says the Royalty hit rapper.
