The Communist Party of Kenya followed the law to expel its former organising secretary Booker Ngesa Omole, the Registrar of Political Parties has upheld.

Ali Surraw, the Deputy Registrar at Office of the Registrar in a letter to the party noted that expulsion of Ngesa followed the law as laid down in the party’s constitution.

“Upon review and evaluation of all submitted documents in line with the Political Parties Act 2011 (PPA) and the party constitution, this office is satisfied that the party adhered to the due process,” Surraw said in the letter addressed to the party’s secretary general Benedict Wachira.

Consequently, the registrar stated that the office has already struck off the former organizing secretary’s name from its register of the party members.

“Consequently, pursuant to section 34 (da) of the PPA, this office has updated its records and register of party members,” said the registrar.

At the centre of Ngesa’s downfall as the former organizing secretary for Communist Party is his failure to honour summons to disciplinary hearings. He is accused of using his former position to paint the image of the party in bad light on the party’s social media avenues including Twitter and Facebook.

On diverse dates between April and September last year, Ngesa was accused of violating various articles of the party’s constitution and codes of conduct by taking over the management of the party’s social media accounts including its website without the prior knowledge of the secretary general who is in charge of communication in the party. “You further turned down efforts requesting you to hand back the communication platforms to the Party Secretary General,” read a section of the accusations leveled against Ngesa in a summons document.
