Residents keen on Nyong’o scorecard
Kisumu residents have expressed mixed reactions on Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s development scorecard ahead of his State of the County address today.
The governor will deliver his fourth address in the annual event to be held at Tom Mboya Labour College.
In his address, Nyong’o will be reviewing his achievement as well as give a final highlight of what his administration plans to realise before next year’s elections.
Yesterday, a section of residents said they expect the governor to talk about the progress of development projects across various sectors, including agriculture and infrastructure.
Kisumu Residents Association chairman Audi Ogada said they expect the county boss to give account of his scorecard based on his campaign manifesto.
Ogada said they also expect Nyong’o to talk about the status of Kachok dumpsite, whose relocation plans has been widely used as a political campaign tool over the years.
“Besides, I expect the county chief to tell residents why he deserves another term. I also expect him to publicly tell us the plans he has to revitalise business activities,” Ogada said
Sugarcane farmers are also waiting to hear what the governor will say concerning his campaign pledges to the sector considering that this will be his last address ahead of next year’s polls.
Jackton Oketch, a resident of Muhoroni, sad Nyong’o promised light rail transport within the sugar belt areas but this has not been implemented.
