A  lawmaker  from Ukambani yesterdaay told former Machakos senator Johnson Muthama to respect Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the region kingpin.

In what is likely to deepen the ongoing tiff between Kalonzo and Muthama, Mwingi West Member of Parliament, Charles Ngusya, yesterday took a swipe at the former senator describing him as a busy body who is only seeking attention by trying to fight Kalonzo.

“It was very clear during the Building Bridges Initiative  (BBI)meeting  in Kitui that Kalonzo is our kingpin ,” he told People Daily on phone.

The Wiper legislator said most of the elected leaders in the region are fully behind the former Vice-President, and come 2022, they will back his presidential bid.

“We will follow any direction he tells us to follow. He is a wise leader and we believe in his presidential bid,” he said.

For the last few days, Kalonzo and Muthama have been engaged in a war of words after the  Wiper Party leader told  the latter that he does not need a negotiator anymore.

Auctions twice

He noted that Muthama has auctioned him twice to Opposition chief Raila Odinga and that he will be his own negotiator in future. Kalonzo has been Raila’s running mate in the 2013 and 2017 polls.

However, leaders from  the region have laughed off  Kalonzo’s remarks challenging him to demonstrate that he is his own man.

“Kalonzo now blames Muthama for auctioning him to Raila in 2013 and 2017. How can a person who aspires to be a president not have a mind of his own?”

His regional senators have defied him over revenue sharing. Time is up” wrote Makueni Governor Kivutha  Kibwana on his official Twitter account.

Muthama, who spoke briefly on Saturday during the burial of Henry Ngei, son of former Cabinet Minister and freedom fighter Paul Ngei at Mbilini in Kangundo, said he prides himself for having made Kalonzo a Vice-President in the Grand Coalition Government.

“He said I auctioned him to Raila. Yes I am a true man if I can give political direction to a whole Vice-President,” said Muthama.

Kalonzo critics say that he has no interest in the community at heart and that is the reason why he wants to negotiate for himself, and wants to be accommodated in other people’s political arrangement.
