The Department of Information has bid farewell to six retiring officers at a colourful ceremony in Nairobi.

The party at the department’s headquarters in Uchumi House, Nairobi, yesterday, was organised for Deputy Director-Information Moses Orare and senior assistant director-Information Geoffrey Bittok.

Others were technicians Sospeter Ayodi and Michael Omondi, senior driver Christopher Akwiri and support staff Cecilia Wanjiru.

Acting Director of Information Vitalis Ragul commended them for serving the public for more than 30 years.

He urged them to continue sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Cogs in wheel

“You are still part and parcel of the Department of Information and you are always welcome to mentor younger staff,” he said.

Ragul asked the staff to cultivate teamwork to achieve the department’s objectives.

“You should all work like cogs in a wheel,” he said.

The retirees were hailed for their contribution to the department and the Ministry of Information. Orare, who joined the department in 1984, commended the department for implementing the Rapid Results Initiative and other  initiatives meant to improve service delivery to Kenyans.

He thanked co-workers for supporting him while discharging his duties, saying the continued support accorded him ensured efficient and effective service delivery.

“We want to acknowledge every support each one of you accorded the retirees and we are happy to note that our service and dedication did not go unnoticed,” he said.
