Kiharu Mp Ndindi Nyoro has said he shall table a motion to have the funds spent by the government in promoting the defunct BBI drive to return the funds used in the process to the public coffers

Ndindi said the government spent huge amount of money on the debate which could have been spent on development projects.

The Mp argued that the court ruling on BBI was a private affair, as those who were propagating it should refund the public funds they spent.

“This is misappropriation of public funds, and it is a criminal offence,’’ Ndindi said.

Ndindi urged other leaders supporting the agenda to shift focus on development for the remaining time before the 2022 elections.

“No more time for BBI, we have water enough already and now leaders should focus on serving the people,” Nyoro added.

Ndindi further added the proposals given in the BBI can be adopted through other constitutional avenues without having to go for a referendum.

“There is nothing wrong with the current constitution, the problem we have is poor leadership,” Ndindi said.

The Mp who has been opposed to the BBI proposals said the report was not in any way meant to benefit the people, claiming the issues of additional constituencies and revenue allocation were just to sugar coat it to entice people to support it.

‘’Former president Mwai Kibaki ruled the country using the old constitution and made the country better and leaders should borrow a leaf from him,” Ndindi said.

Ndindi also said the entire process was just a political sideshow, lauding the court of appeal’s ruling to nullify the debate.

The youthful MP asked leaders who have been supporting BBI to be contented with the court’s ruling, and that chest thumping has no place in the country.

“We have actually known that the so-called deep state is actually a shallow state and the system doesn’t exist,” Ndindi concluded.
