Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked former premier Raila Odinga to return the favour and back him for the presidency in 2022.

The former Vice-President was Raila’s running-mate in the last two General-Elections.

Kalonzo, who is on a charm offensive tour at the Coast reiterated he would not play second fiddle to anyone.

“It is not going to be business as usual. Our time to support Raila has expired. This time we are going for it ourselves,” Kalonzo said.

Speaking after opening a regional party office at Majengo in Mombasa, Kalonzo warned rival political outfits to brace for a bruising political showdown ahead of the 2022 contest.

Kalonzo said the party has resolved to make some changes, including its signature campaign slogan to “Work without theft” (Kazi bila wizi) since its  leaders have not been involved in any of the corruption scandals that have rocked most of the aspiring and serving politicians in the country.

“We are a team of high integrity and this is why we are urging Kenyans to listen to us. We are going to hit the ground running,” said Kalonzo.

The Wiper leader expressed optimism they will clinch the presidency in 2022 and the upcoming by election in Msambweni next month.

He was accompanied by more than 15 MPs from various regions and Transport CAS  Wavinya Ndeti.

They held a series of meetings in Kwale and Mombasa in a campaign to strengthen the party.

Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo said the opening of a new office will help the party revamp operations in Coast.

“We are tired of pledging obedience to a party (in reference to ODM) that has neglected us making Mombasa a ghost town lagging behind economically for ages,” said Mbogo.
