Ruto accuses ODM of using BBI to plan 2022 campaigns
Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Sunday, January 12, slammed the opposition for allegedly using the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) to plan their line up in the 2022 General Election.
Speaking at a church fundraiser in Soy, Uasin Gishu County, DP Ruto also blamed BBI for halting of several Jubilee administrations' projects.
"These people campaigning for the BBI are Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members campaigning for themselves. The BBI was good at inception but now it is used by the opposition for campaigns," said the DP
Ruto referred to the meeting at Gusii Stadium on Friday that was organised by ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, and a section of government leaders from Western Kenya.
"If the BBI and the handshake were for uniting Kenyans... As of now, it has brought confusion that is threatening the Big Four agenda of the government," said Ruto.
Ruto blamed the Kisii meeting for openly campaigning for 2022 in disguise for BBI support.
"We saw in Kisii is politics of deceit and trickery. ODM was forming its 2022 political line up. We have no problem with ODM campaigning, what we're opposed to is trickery," added Ruto.
Many lawmakers allied to Jubilee's Tanga Tanga wing, including Moses Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri, Kimani Ichungwa and Didmus Barasa, accompanied Ruto as he toured several churches in the area.
Before the Soy meeting, Ruto was in Narok for the opening of the African Gospel Church Olerai Bethel sanctuary.
