Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa and his Naivasha counterpart Jane Kihara have told the Jubilee party to prepare for a humiliating defeat in the Kiambaa by-election.

The two, who accused the ruling Jubilee party of betrayal despite being loyal party members, say they will teach the ruling party a lesson in the mini-polls.

Speaking in Kiambaa on Sunday, where they had gone to campaign for the UDA candidate Kimani Wanjiku, the two said the hustlers' movement is unstoppable.

"We are in jubilee for strategic reasons. We are waiting for the opportune time to bolt out. We are the ones who built the house (party) and hence it will be our prerogative to demolish it though not any time soon because we don't want to engage our supporters into unnecessary by-elections," Ichung'wa said.

Kihara on her part said all vocal jubilee MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto were victimized for expressing their democratic rights.

"We decided to seek refuge in UDA because of the humiliation we have been subjected to. For instance, I was a parliamentary committee member but I was disgracefully removed and replaced by an ODM party MP," she said.

They called upon voters in Kiambaa to turn out in large numbers on July 15 and vote for the UDA candidate

Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama, on the other hand, intensified his campaigns.

"We are conducting door to door campaigns and I can assure you that they are bearing fruits if the receptions we are getting is anything to go by," said the visibly excited politician.

On the campaign trail too was Dr Lucy Wanjiru of PNU who pitched a tent at Banana Hills shopping centre attracting a huge crowd.

She said that she is confident of capturing the seat and be the first woman to represent Kiambaa in the August House.

"I will show the dust. Being the only woman and also being in the youth bracket besides having the best vision and mission for Kiambaa is working in my favour and am expecting to turntables as we approach the voting day," she told the media.

Others in the race but whose presence are yet to be felt on the ground include Richard Njoroge, Evans Wainaina, Willie Njuguna, Isaac Komu and David Mugo.

Kiambaa sub-county has had four former MPs since it was formed in 1992 including Kamau Icharia, Njenga Karume, Stanley Githunguri and Paul Koinange.

The by-election was occasioned by the untimely death of former MP Paul Koinange who succumbed to Covid-19.
