Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has said legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto will not be cowed by threats from the Jubilee Party top leadership.

While accusing the new Senate Majority Leader Irungu Kang’ata of being behind the threats, Kihara admitted that intimidation had turned out to be the order of the day in the ruling party.

Speaking in Naivasha after touring various development projects, Kihara claimed  Kang’ata was leading the threats.

“Those perceived to be Ruto’s allies are been persecuted and threatened daily but this will not cow us,” she said, adding that the ongoing wrangles had split the party.

Top leadership

She said it was worrying that the country’s top leadership had decided to stir political wrangles when millions were suffering due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kihara said the billions donated through the Covid-19 fund were yet to reach suffering Kenyans as politics dominated the day.

“It’s sad that as Kenyans are dying of hunger, those in government are busy with petty politics instead of addressing the current challenges,” she said.
