Ruto appoints Emmanuel Talam, 4 others to plum state jobs

President William Ruto on Monday, October 17, made five new appointments as he continues to organise his government, a month after assuming office.

The Head of State appointed Emmanuel Talam as the Press Secretary to the Presidential Communication Service (PCS).

Talam, a former TV reporter, served as Ruto's Communication Director in the Office of the Deputy President.

In a communique from State House Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, Ruto also appointed his long-serving aide Reuben Maiyo as his Private Secretary.

The President also named George Macgoye as Chief of Staff in the Office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and veteran journalist Njeri Rugene as Head of Communications in the DP's office.

In the new appointments, Ruto picked Paul Guare to serve as Gachagua's Private Secretary. 

The President on Friday appointed former Principal Secretary (PS)secretary Kamau Thugge as the senior advisor and Head of Fiscal Affairs and Budget policy.

In the appointments announced by outgoing Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, economist David Ndii was appointed the chairperson of the President's Council of Economic Advisors.

Koskei was appointed as the Chief of staff and the Head of Public Service while Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok was appointed as his deputy chief of staff.

The position of Senior Advisor and Head of Economic Transformation and Secretariat was given to Augustine Cheruiyot while Nancy Laibuni was appointed as an associate member of the president's council of Economic advisors.

David Mugonyi, who previously served as Ruto's communications director at the Office of the Deputy President, was appointed as head of the presidential communication service while former Kajiado South MP Katoo Ole Mitito was appointed as the State House comptroller.

Former Citizen TV anchor Hussein Mohammed was appointed as State House spokesperson.
