Ruto dismisses OKA as a coalition of power hungry politicians
Deputy President William Ruto yesterday dismissed political leaders coalescing under One Kenya Alliance (OKA), claiming their main aim was to share power at the expense of addressing problems facing their constituents.
Ruto who was speaking in Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Ukambani backyard, blamed Opposition politicians for abandoning their people and embarking on a mission to seek power.
Ruto also blamed ODM leader Raila Odinga for Jubilee’s failures, attributing them to his co-operation with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Handshake.
Kalonzo, Amani National Congress chief Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi on Tuesday met and announced plans to form a grand alliance ahead of the 2022 General Election.
“Kalonzo, Raila, Musalia and others are meeting to discuss how they will share power.
In our team, we are coming together with Mama mbogas and others to discuss empowerment and economic transformation.
The narrative in the country has to change from power sharing among a few people to economic transformation of all Kenyans,” said Ruto.
He told the opposition politicians to apologise to Kenyans for derailing their development instead of asking them for votes.
“I want to tell those that came into our government in 2018 and disrupted the Big Four agenda, before talking to us about 2022 you must apologise because whatever you did messed up our priorities.
It is sad that instead of apologising you are forming a coalition. As Hustlers, we are waiting for you,” said Ruto
Ruto accused Raila of hijacking the Jubilee government after the March 2018 Handshake, between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta with a selfish agenda that turned Government’s priorities upside down.
The DP said that was it not for interruptions by the Jubilee Government it would have achieved its economic transformation targets enshrined in the big 4 agenda.
“We had a good plan to empower citizens in business, agriculture, health and others back in 2017.
But some people came in and told us that it was not a priority. This project has been going on for 4 years. They stopped all the great plans we had” said Ruto.
Speaking yesterday in Machakos town, during a meeting with small-scale traders from the county, Ruto said his focus was how to improve the lives of the majority of Kenyans who were hustling to put something on the table.
Ruto was accompanied by MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira).
The MPs told the Kamba community not to be misled to support individuals who would end up being in Opposition come 2022
The leaders urged Kalonzo Musyoka to consider working with Ruto.
