President William Ruto on Monday, January 23 met Jubilee Party Members of Parliament (MP) at State House, Nairobi.

The President said he was keen on uniting all the leaders to push the agenda of the people of Kenya forward.

"We must build a bigger and better team that will work together to effectively prosecute the agenda of the people of Kenya.

"We cannot move our country forward by leaving others behind," Ruto said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The Jubilee leaders who graced the meeting included Sabina Chege (Nominated), Kanini Kega (EALA), David Kiaraho (Ol Kalou), Irene Njoki (Bahati), Zachary Kwenya (Kinangop), Shadrack Mwiti (South Imenti), and Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West).

Others were Amos Mwago (Starehe), Daniel Karitho (Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), and Joseph Githuku (Lamu).

Jubilee Party position

The meeting came after Kanini Kega said Jubilee Party had not joined Kenya Kwanza but was ready to help the government with its agenda in Parliament and criticise it when necessary.

"By supporting the government, it does not mean that we have shifted from Jubilee to Kenya Kwanza, we are still in Jubilee, and still in opposition but we are smart opposition in that if there is something positive the government is bringing, we support and if there is something that it is not doing right, we will fault the government," the legislator noted.

He said that theirs is a unity of purpose to ensure that the Mount Kenya people get maximum benefits from the government.

He also said that it is time to debunk the myth that any time the Mount Kenya leaders meet they are up to mischief yet when leaders from other regions meet, it is seen as an act of togetherness.

Jubilee MPs had last week met DP Gachagua at his office at Harambee House Annex.

"We had gone to discuss our issues pertaining to the mountain and our unity, but most importantly we dealt with the many projects the former President Uhuru Kenyatta had started and we are happy that the current regime is keen to complete the many of them," he said.

He added: "We had a very good and candid discussion. We laughed off the hard tackles we had during the campaigns and we were able to forgive each other and they all agreed that they were on a vote-hunting mission and they had to use all manner of persuasion to get them."
