Deputy President William Ruto is today touring Gatundu South and North Constituencies in Kiambu County.

Ruto who is for the first time touring the home turf of his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta since 2017 is expected to visit Kimunyu, Mutomo, Ichaweri and Gatundu Town before moving to Gatundu North Constituency.

In Gatundu North, Ruto will visit Kamwangi, Mataara, Gakoe, Gatukuyu, Gatuamba among other villages.

According to Thika MP Patrick Wainaina who is also aspiring to become the next Kiambu governor on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) which is affiliated with Ruto, the DP is touring the region due to public demand.

"Ruto came here last in 2017 while campaigning alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta. He will be coming back after locals demanded his return," he said.

At the same time, Wainaina revealed that Ruto's main agenda will be to sell his economic empowerment agenda to Gatundu South and North residents as he aspires to succeed his boss in the August polls.

There were claims in the morning that both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja had organised goons to confront each other during the entire visit, claims that both camps dispelled as fallacious.
