Ruto vows to back Uhuru’s unity quest as Clergy says locusts invasion ‘curse for Kenya’

Deputy President William Ruto yesterday told politicians to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s quest for unity.
According to DP, the president’s agenda was aimed at bringing all communities together for prosperity of the nation.
Speaking at St Thomas ACK Cathedral Kerugoya, Ruto said peace in the country would bring development and co-existence among the tribes. He said he is fully behind the President’s agenda and told every leader to embrace the unity, which he said, has brought peace in the country.
Accompanied by more than 10 MPs allied to his ‘Tanga Tanga’ grouping, the DP insisted the Jubilee agenda of development would continue promising more development to people of Kirinyaga.
The DP, who was warmly received by the faithful, who attended the rededication service at the cathedral, urged the Church to pray for the President as he brings all communities together.
He said bringing peace among various political establishments was biblical and challenged prelates to bridge the gap between leaders and God.
However, legislators who accompanied the DP were not allowed to address the church with ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit saying the church should not be used as political platform. Only Kirinyaga women representative, Wangui Ngirichi was allowed to introduce the MPs. present.
Among the MP present were Nderitu Gachagua (Mathira), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and Alice Wahome (Kandara) who received rousing welcome with Christian ululating anytime their names were mentioning.
Ruto said that president Uhuru Kenyatta, agenda four will continue as planned pointing that every thing it’s on course.
Speaking at same time Kirinyaga women rep Wangui Ngirichi said that Kirinyaga people are happy with the government move to allocate Sh550 million to buy rice paddy from Farmers.
She said that the money will be big boost to rice farmers and those allocated for coffee revolving fund saying that farmers will be able to get the value of their hard work.
“We support the president on measures he has taken to improve rice and coffee sector, deputy president tell our president we appreciate whatever he has done,” she said.
ACK archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit said the country needs divine intervention to deal with the desert locust invasion.
He said that the Bible is clear that every time the locusts invade a country it’s a sign of God displeasure with his people.
He said that though the government is trying to fight the locusts menace in eleven counties Christians should repent and ask for God forgiveness as we have erred.
The prelate’s said that church should lead in repentance also calling political leaders to go back to God as he’s clearly not happy with the way they are doing.
“I ask everyone of us to repent and go back to God as locust invasion is a clearer sign that God is not happy with us,” he pointed out.
