Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has said Deputy President William Ruto would have been a "State project" if their friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta had lasted until 2022.

Junet told those labelling Raila as a "State project " to stop it.

"If 'yangu kumi ya Ruto kumi' was not H.E endorsing a 'project' then, how is his support now for the Rt. Hon., a bitter pill for Tangatanga/UDA?

"They keep saying what’s good for the hen is good for the duck, and we fully agree," Junet said.

There has been sustained labelling of Raila as a government candidate for the 2022 presidential election.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, while in a campaign trail in Westlands this week, said the government is funding Raila's campaigns.

"If you see Raila, he is doing campaigns in big tents that are paid for by the government. He should meet people in the field like us," he said.

Mudavadi recently joined Ruto's camp alongside Moses Wetangula.

Raila has, however, dismissed his critics saying he only needs Uhuru's vote as his friend.

“I don’t want Uhuru Kenyatta’s endorsement. I want his vote.

"If the President offers me his vote I will be grateful. I’m not his project and I don’t want to be his project,” Raila said.
