Senator Johnson Sakaja moved to court to block the appointment of Mary Wambui into National Employment Authority.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has challenged the appointment of Mary Wambui as the chair of the National Employment Authority.

In a two-page document signed by the senator, Sakaja says that the recent appointment of Wambui violates a law section contained in the employment act.

"The recent appointment of Mary Wambui Munene as chair of this institution goes against the specific provision of Section 10 (2) of the National Employment Authority" said Sakaja in the document.

The section requires appointees to the seat to have served at least seven years in the Human Resource Management (HRM) or an equivalent. Sakaja, however, maintains that Wambui may be capacitated to be a public servant though elsewhere.

Sakaja says he has instructed his lawyers to challenge Wambui's appointment through the court.

Wambui's appointment was met with harsh criticism among a section of Kenyans.
