Three Samburu county officials were yesterday arrested over alleged corruption and violation of procurement laws in the award of a tender for the purchase of two tractors worth Sh8.4 million.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Reuben Lemunyete Maruben (Chief Officer, Agriculture), Daniel Nakuo Lenolkirina (Chief Officer, Finance) and Geoffrey Kitewan Marun (Head of Procurement) following investigations into the award of the tender to CMC Motor Group Ltd at Sh8,418,964.

The investigators revealed that the suspects fraudulently misrepresented facts to influence the award of the tender.

EACC submitted its investigation findings and recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as required under Section 35 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.

“Upon an independent review of the evidence, the  DPP  issued  consent  to  apprehend  and charge the three suspects...” EACC chief executive Twalib Mbarak (pictured) said yesterday, adding that the three will be arraigned in Isiolo today.
