A thriller is anticipated at Gusii Stadium this afternoon when Nairobi Stima and Shabana clash in a Round 15 fixture.

Indeed as the Betika Super League heads for the break, the pair is also in the chase for premiership promotion albeit in different circumstances.

Second placed Stima who have 30 points are once again in a position where they can mount a challenge especially since the teams’ right behind have been fairly inconsistent. Stima under Leonard Odipo have picked 10 points out of a possible 12 and have the squad depth to go all the way.

Shabana are eighth on the log and though a little far off the top have shown recent indications of improvement. With six wins off 14 matches, Shabana would appear duly disadvantaged but at their backyard it is often hard to pick points for visiting teams.

“It matters a lot that we are at home where we have picked most points. We will be facing a very strong side and a contender but my players will be prepared regardless. We want to make sure we end the first leg on the highest position possible,” said Andrew Kanuli who coaches Shabana.

‘Tore Bobe’ are on 21 points currently and will be looking to improve on their erratic run after collecting only four points out off a possible nine. Nairobi Stima will be keen take advantage of third placed Bidco United’s rest to open up a gap.

Another exciting clash will be witnessed at Camp Toyoyo which will play host to a triple header this afternoon. The main event will be at 14000hrs when unpredictable Coast Stima comes up against title contenders Ushuru.

The taxmen played out to a gallant draw against league leaders Nairobi City Stars last weekend at Hope Center and will be looking at the likes of Brian Yahama, Alex Juma and Edwin Mwaura to do the business. Ushuru is on sixth with 21 points but will be wary on Paul Ogai’s Coast Stima who last week beat high riding Bidco 3-2 at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Former Premiership side Vihiga United meet Kenya Police at Mumias Complex in another juicy duel between teams that have vastly improved in the season. The law enforcers have stringed together five wins in a row and are currently 10th with 19 points while Sammy Okoth’s Vihiga are fourth on the log with 28 points from 13 matches.
