Kenyan volleyball sensation Sharon Chepchumba has switched sides in Greece after signing for PAOK from Aris Thessaloniki.

Chepchumba is an established figure in the Malkia Strikers set-up, and the recent move is just a testament to her growing career.

Chepchumba's move

"Exciting News. Sharon Chepchumba, the MVP of the 2023 African Women's Volleyball Nations Championships, is making waves. She's just signed with the Greek top-tier side PAOK Volleyball Club, switching from Aris Thessaloniki.
Let's cheer her on for this new chapter," Kenya Volleyball confirmed in a statement.

Chepchumba started her career as a footballer before switching to volleyball, where she has gone on to make her name.

She honed her skills at Kwanzanze Secondary School under the youth coach, Justin Kigwari. The Kitale-born starlet joined the Machakos education centre from Tartar Secondary School.

She won the East African Games title with Kwanzanze in 2015, and that achievement brought limelight to her growing career.

After completing her secondary school education, Chepchumba joined Kenya Prisons, where she went on to become an outstanding figure.

Chepchumba's career

She was part of the squad that won the league title in 2018 and earned a podium finish while with the national side the same year in Egypt in the African Club Championships.

After that stellar show with Kenya Prisons and Malkia Strikers, she was included in the squad that went to the World Championship that was held in Japan.

The 24-year-old was also part of the team that participated in the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, Kenya bowed out at the preliminary stage and ended up finishing 12th.

At PAOK, Chepchumba hopes to make an impressive outing after shining while turning out for Aris Thessaloniki.

PAOK were initially active for 13 years, between 1985 and 1998, but it was founded again in 2010.

After reaching A2, it fell again to the third level for 2012–13, B Ethiki, and in 2017, the team was promoted to A2 Ethniki Women's Volleyball. In 2019, the club won the Pre-League Championship and was promoted to the A1 Ethniki. They won the Greek Cup in the 2020/21 season.
