Six more succumb in Covid-19 daily count

Covid-19 claimed six more patients in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of people who have succumbed to the virus to ten in a space of three days, bringing the total figure of Covid-19 fatalities to 1,750 over the last 10 months.

At the same time, the number of Covid-19 positive cases jumped from 69 in 24 hours to 141 from 3, 571 samples tested bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases since March last year to 100,193.

“From the cases, 121 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners, while 81 and 60 are females and males respectively,” Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe said in the latest Covid-19 update. He noted that the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 87.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi as usual recorded the highest at 87, Kilifi (eight), Kwale (7), Taita Taveta (6), Siaya (five) and Nyeri (4).

Three counties of Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Mombasa and Nakuru recorded three cases each, while positive cases in Garissa, Turkana, Kiambu and Kisumu were two for each.  Machakos, Makueni, Murang’a and Bungoma shared a case each.

“Today, 207 patients have recovered from the disease with 192 captured in the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 15 are from our various facilities.

The total recoveries now stand at 83, 625,” the CS added in the Covid update wired to newsrooms yesterday.
