Sofapaka’s priority

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Sofapaka has declared Senegal’s national team goalkeeper Pape Seydou Ndiaye as a priority signing when the local transfer window opens next month.
Ndiaye 27, has been on a good form for his club and country and has been standing between the posts for ‘The Lions of Teranga’ in their recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when their first choice custodian Edouard Mendy who plies his trade for English Premier League side Chelsea was unavailable.
According to Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa, talk’s with the 6 ft 4’ ASC Niarry Tally goalkeeper are at an advanced level and he is confident the deal will be sealed soon.
“Ndiaye is our priority signing (meant) to help us deal with the goalkeeping problem.
We are at an advanced level in our talks, but If we fail to get him we will go for Uganda’s Charles Lukwago who is currently with Uganda Cranes at the CHAN competition in Cameroon,” Kalekwa told People Sport.
The former league champions in an awkward 12th position in the table after a serious of poor results despite making many signings and the boss is keen to make them title contenders in the second leg of the league.
They signed Kevin Omondi from Wazito, but the custodian has conceded 10 goals from six matches, that saw him replaced by third choice goalkeeper Simon Masaka who was signed from second tier side Soy United, in their 2-1 loss to Nzoia Sugar at the weekend. The other goalkeeper in the team is Richard Aimo.
