Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula has supported the move by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed to suspend Kenya Football Federation (FKF) officials over graft allegations.

Wetang'ula said Amina needs every support to ensure the football body works very effectively.

"FKF has let down our country. CS Amb. Amina is right and needs every support to clean the mess.

"We have no shortage of talent, we only lack managers. Ignore FIFA for now and restore our pride and confidence," Wetang'ula said.

Wetang'ula's sentiments come barely hours after FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura asked the CS to reinstate suspended FKF officials with immediate effect.

"I call on your understanding of the matter at stake to reconsider your position in the light of our aforementioned principles so as to make sure the latter are respected with regard to the situation at the FKF," Samoura said in a letter to the CS.

FKF president Nick Mwendwa was arrested on Friday and has been arraigned before Milimani Law Courts to answer to graft charges.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking to have Mwendwa detained for 14 days.
