National women’s football team Harambee Starlets have their work cut out as they face hosts Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Queens in the final of Cecafa 2019 Women Championships final at Chamazi Complex in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, today.

En-route to the final, Kenya beat Burundi’s She-Intamba 5-0 in the semi-finals while Tanzania struggled to edge out Uganda 1-0, thanks to a late goal by Asha Rashid.

Starlets, who wound up as the leaders in Group A of the campaign, were literally on fire against Burundi and would have scored more had they been a little bit keen in their delivery up-front.

Coveted crown

A brace by Gentrix Shikangwa, who currently tops the scorer's chart, coupled with a goal apiece by Dorcas Shokobe, Mwanalima Adam and Corazone Aquino, saw Starlets extend their dominance ahead of the high stake final against Kilimanjaro Queens who topped Group B with nine points from three matches.

Starlets head coach David Ouma is glad his players are following instructions and has tipped them to clinch the coveted crown.

“I am happy with not only the result but also the overall performance of the team. Our focus is now on the final and I am confident that we will come home with the trophy. Obviously, the encounter was not easy and I must congratulate the girls for a job well done,” said Ouma on Saturday.
