The Public Service Commission (PSC) yesterday extended the window for applications for positions of Principal Secretaries by one week.

In a paid advertisement, the PSC Chief Executive Officer Simon Rotich said:“Interested applicants now have seven more days to apply for the positions that are expected to fall vacant following the General Elections held on August 9.”

Interested applicants must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity. The commission had early this month advertised the positions.

In a Gazette Notice dated September 7, the PSC had advertised the positions with the commission’s chairperson Anthony Muchiri saying all applications should reach the Commission on or before yesterday.

The Gazette Notice followed guidelines by the commission issued a week earlier detailing how the CSs and Principal Secretaries would vacate office and hand over to successors.

“Article 155 (3) (A) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, mandates the Public Service Commission to recommend to the President persons for nomination and appointment as Principal Secretaries. Pursuant to this constitutional provision, the Public Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for the position of Principal Secretary,” reads the gazette notice.
