All parts of the country will be covered by telephony and internet services before the 2022 General Election, ICT Principal Administrative Secretary Eric Kiraithe has said.

He said currently, 97 per cent of the country is already covered adding that the remaining areas would receive the services through a programme of constructing basic communication infrastructure being implemented by the Communication Authority of Kenya.

The former Government Spokesman said the Government is committed to ensuring that all areas in the country get communication services through the Universal Service Fund.

He spoke during a public sensitisation meeting on the need to take care of communication infrastructure in at at Mkondoni Primary School in Langobaya, Malindi sub-county, yesterday. He urged the public to protect the masts from vandals.

“The money used to construct communication infrastructure comes from a five per cent levy on airtime and that means this money is yours,” he added.
Langobaya Assistant County Commissioner Daniel Ntausi said the facilities have enabled security agents to get information and act on it in real time. -KNA
