The government of Kenya and UNICEF through Generation Unlimited have launched two flagship pilot programs aimed at fostering green entrepreneurship and empowering Kenyan youths.

Under the initiative, selected participants will benefit from training and agricultural seed funding of up to $5,000 USD (Sh700,000) each, mentorship and access to invaluable networks and financial resources that should catalyse their transition to a more sustainable economy in Kenya.

The programme - BeGreen Africa and Engaging Kenyan Youth in Agriculture and Nutrition (EKYAN) are initiatives meant to offer youth opportunity to learn new entrepreneurial skills relevant to the current market reality.

“Recognising agriculture’s pivotal role in Kenya’s economy, the programme concentrates on supporting young smallholder farmers, in partnership with Educate! and Kuza Biashara,” says a release by the parties.

BeGreen Africa focuses on nurturing youth-led businesses in solid waste management through comprehensive training, mentorship, and seed funding.
