Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe yesterday accused Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale of disrespecting senior Luhya leaders.

Mugabe (above) said Khalwale’s verbal attacks on Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa were uncalled for.

“Senator Khalwale has already started using his reclaimed position negatively by undermining fellow leaders. His remarks in Kakamega and Bungoma that were meant to undermine Mudavadi, Wetang’ula and Barasa are uncalled for,” he added.

Speaking in his constituency, the MP said Khalwale should use proper channels to address fellow leaders.

He was reacting to remarks by the Senator in Bungoma where he accused Mudavadi and Wetang’ula of pressuring him to drop out of the Kakamega governor race in favour of Cleophas Malalah.

“The two forced me to back out of the governorship race in favour of a small boy Cleophas Malalah. Did he make it and am I not a senator?” he posed while addressing a campaign rally for former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga who is seeking to replace Wetang’ula as Senator for Bungoma.

Wetang’ula is supporting his longtime aide Washiko Wakoli of Ford-Kenya. Also in the race is the immediate former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi of DAP-Kenya.
