A city businessman and a university student accused of luring girls into his house for sex are expected to appear before court today for pre-trial of a criminal case against them.

Faith Washiali Bwibo and Abdirizak Adan Abdullahi are both in remand after the court on April 9, ordered them to remain in custody until a criminal case against them is heard and determined.

Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Boke said Abdullahi and Bwibo, a university student, are not only a threat to justice but are also dangerous to the victims. “Although bond is a constitutional right, it is not absolute and a court may decline to grant it in the event that compelling reasons are put forward,” she said.

While rejecting their bail application, the magistrate also found that justice would be compromised if the duo were freed on bond.

Death threats

“I also concur with the prosecution’s objection that the two if released on bond are likely to interfere with witnesses since Abdullahi is a licensed gun holder,” she said.

According to the prosecution, Washiali reportedly invited young girls to fun-filled parties in South C estate, only for them to be coerced into satisfying her male friend’s sexual needs.

It is said some of them were threatened with death if they did not do what the man demanded, the court heard.
