Suspect in Kimwarer Dams scandal arrested
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a suspect of the Arror/Kimwarer dams scandal.
Jackson Njau Kinjanjui was arrested on December 22 at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport immediately after landing in the country from the US.
In a statement, the DCI announced that they were investigating how Kinyanjui managed to leave the country yet his travel documents had been withheld at Milimani Law courts.

"Jackson Kinyanjui, a wanted fraud suspect was last night arrested upon his arrival from the USA," said the DCI.
Kinyanjui's arrest order was issued on July 22. He was a Director of Resource Mobilisation at the National Treasury at the time of the dams scandal that ripped Kenyan taxpayers over Sh60 billion.
In the scandal, an Italian construction firm CMC di Ravenna was paid upfront but never commenced work. It later emerged that the firm had been declared bankrupt.
Consequently, the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered the arrest of 28 individuals in connection to the scandal.
Former Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge are among the individuals under investigation.
Kinyanjui, Rotich, Thugge and among others are accused of conspiring to defraud the government millions of shillings by making unprocedural payments in the project.
