The National Assembly Environment and Natural Resources Committee has proposed that a Chinese construction company compensates more than 600 residents of Kasipul constituency adversely affected by its mining activities.

The residents of Aketch village in Konuong’a location have raised concern over the impact of mining undertaken by the company in the area.

The firm has been making ballast used  for construction of roads in Nyanza region since 2018.

The company has been breaking the stones through blasting. The residents had petitioned the National Assembly through their MP Ong’ondo Were to look into the matter.
