Ten students from Buru-Buru Girls’ High School will be arraigned at a Nairobi Court on Wednesday to answer to arson charges, in connection to the fire at the institution last week.

With the girls set to return to school this morning, Board of Management (BOM) chairman Lazarus Opicho said the school administration has zeroed in on 10 learners who were the occupants of the cubicle which was completely destroyed by fire.

“We have resolved that the girls will be charged with arson,” he said.

Opicho said that it will cost the parents at the school Sh2.2 million to pay for damages incurred from last week’s fire.

Each parent will part with Ksh1,500 before their girls are re-admitted, he said.

All learners will also have to clear this year’s academic fees before the students can be admitted.

“Immediately they report we will summon all parents. The biggest problem we have with this school is parents.

They are to blame for the mess,” he said.
