Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is a happy guardian after his son Master Gift Osinya registered a quality grade in the 2020 KCSE results.

Sonko adopted Gift after terrorists struck a church in Likoni on the Sunday of March 23, 2014, killing his mother and several worshippers.

His younger brother Master Satrine Osinya was left with a bullet lodged on his head but he survived. The two have since lived with Sonko who adopted them.

Taking to his social media handles to make the revelations, the former governor who is also a Good Deeds ambassador thanked God that Gift has finally made it to the University.

Gift scored a mean grade of B- (minus) in the results announced on Monday by Education CS Prof George Magoha.

"Even though as a family we were expecting an A from him, we thank God for his good grades that now guarantee him a place in one of the public universities where he can pursue the career of his dreams," Sonko said.

Gift was admitted to Lenana School after he scored 399 marks in KCPE.

Sonko says the two children have been a blessing to his family and that they have seen God's miracle as they raise them each passing day.

He says despite the traumatising experience as a result of the terrorists' attack, Gift managed to move on well with life and gained hope of having a happy life in his future..

"Today my family and I are overwhelmed with joy as we celebrate the KCSE results of our beloved son Gift Osinya," Sonko said.

"On behalf of my family especially my beloved wife Primrose, I wish to thank you all for the continued support and prayers," he added.
