Police in Thika, have launched investigations to ascertain how a businessman lost in excess of Sh5 million after parking his car outside a public toilet for a short call.

Thika West Sub-County police commander Daniel Kinyua told People Daily that Mathew Magenda Githinji had withdrawn the money from three banks and left it in the car as he went for the short call.

Kinyua revealed said the director of Bxbakolinxm Ltd had withdrawn the money from NCBA, Absa and Consolidated banks in Thika town.

Githinji is said to have parked his vehicle outside a public toilet opposite St Patrick Catholic Church and went to relieve himself only to return and find his vehicle’s right rear window broken and the cash amounting to Sh5,713,000 stolen. Kinyua yesterday said police have launched investigations into the matter but were yet to make any headway.

“The man, dealing with such amounts of money should have involved police officers to give him security during and after the transactions. We are however doing everything possible to help arrest those who broke into his vehicle and stole the money,” he said.
