This is daylight robbery – football fans react to Messi winning his 7th Ballon d’Or
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Lionel Messi on Monday evening walked away with his seventh Ballon d'Or award in a ceremony that was held in Paris.
Messi had to beat Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea midfielderJorginho to win the award. The two - Lewandowski and Jorginho - were considered the favourites to win the prestigious award among football fans.
Despite various expectations from the fans, it is Messi who emerged the victor with Lewandowski and Jorginho emerging 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Messi's victory has, however, been received with mixed reactions from the fans. Some claim that Messi did not achieve much in football last season hence should not have won the award.
Others on the other side noted that since he won his first-ever international trophy with Argentina in the last Copa America, he deserved the award.

palesabd: @francefootball It's worse than 2018 injustice. He wins his awards by default coz the media favours him(2019 was also proof of that). After that 2018 robbery I did say this award will lose it's credibility one day and by snubbing Benzema and Lewandowski(even in 2020) proves they are gradually getting there. They even decided to create a "Striker" award instead of awarding the deserved winner what he deserves!
