Trans Nzoia County professionals have warned those demanding the transfer of school heads over what they termed as "refusing to toe the line"

The group has come out to warn a group of leaders against politicising the transfer of teachers adding that they should leave the mandate to the Teachers Service Commission.

Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County Professionals Chairman Tolometi Makhanu said the attack on teachers may cause a destructive impact if not addressed by authorities.

"Political "firefighting" and antagonism against a section of headteachers and other departmental heads in this county shouldn’t be allowed to continue shaping up for us to realize better results," Makhanu said.

He urged leaders to shun tribalism and embrace professionalism for the benefit of both learners and teachers.

"Our interest as professionals is to work with whoever that the government posts to institutions,‘’ he said.

Trans Nzoia County Director Of Education Dr Salome Maina told the People Daily that it was wrong for a section of people to oppose the choice of school principals posted by the TSC.

She says there should be no more interference in the running of educational institutions, a point shared by Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Sam Ojwang who doubles up as the chairman of the County Education Board.

The County Commissioner calls for an end to politicking in learning institutions, saying learning institutions are government entities.

"The fact that academic excellence was recently seen after the release of 2020 KCSE proves that Teachers worked hard to achieve the best. It is wrong for some people to continue interfering in the running and management of schools’’, he said.
