Tujibebe Wakenya, Tingiza Miti: List of political parties, slogans with ‘weird’ names

With the 2022 general elections only twelve months and a handful days away, Kenyans have been treated to the most peculiar of names of new political outfits angling for several seats in the upcoming polls.

Since the advent of a multi-party system, the Kenyan political landscape has been littered with numerous political parties, each advancing different agenda for the benefit of the electorate.

As the country moves closer to the polls, several politicians and other political players have formed political parties, some with the weirdest of names ever.

Here are some of the political parties sampled by People Daily Digital;

1.Tujibebe Wakenya Party

The Tujibebe Wakenya Party was unveiled on August 21, 2021 by former Kiambu governor William Kabogo as his 2022 political vehicle. The party encourages Kenyans organize themselves by making the right choices.

Kabogo, who vied for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2017 as an independent candidate after missing out on the Jubilee party ticket, has vowed to join the 2022 presidential race with his new political outfit.

The Registrar of political parties confirmed that it had issued the Tujibebe Party with an interim certificate as it works to meet the requisite standards for full registration.

2. Roots Party

The Roots party, whose slogan is Tingiza mti, says it targets to empower the marginalized communities with high poverty levels.

The Prof Wajackoya led party has vowed to conduct nationwide mobilization and registration of party members as it seeks to stamp its authority as a people's party.

The party will field Wajackoya agains top guns in the Uhuru succession race in 2022.

3. Chama cha Kazi

Following wrangles in his People's Empowerement Party (PEP), Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria unveiled the Chama cha Kazi party that he says he will push for dignity of work, sanctity of enterprises and unity in diversity.

The party, whose slogan is Kazi na Pesa (translating to ''Work and Money''), is affiliated to Ruto's UDA party despite his insistence that he will not enter coalition talks with any small party.

Moses Kuria said that the need for the Mt Kenya region to have its own necessitated the move to register the new outfit. The lawmaker argues that the vote-rich region risks being left out of government next year if they fail to coalesce around a single party.

4. Daraja ya Kenya Party

The party, whose symbol is a computer keyboard, says it is an outfit that is out to fight for a non-tribal party where the voice of each common mwananchi matters.

The Joseph Mbugua led party, whose slogan is Tuko Macho, seeks to turn dreams, hopes and aspirations of all Kenyans to reality through progressive and sustainable development.

The party, that holds an interim certificate from the registrar of political parties, has announced that it will field Dr. Joseph Mbugua as its presidential candidate in 2022.

5. Vitendo na Sera Party

The Vitendo na Sera party styles itself as a party that is democratic, non-religious, non-sexist and anti-racist in its membership and governance.

The party, whose symbol is a wood plane (Randa), seeks to champion for the interests of Kenyans as it pushes its slogan; Randa Yalainisha Nchi.
