Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has resigned.

Tuju announced his resignation on Saturday ahead of the party National Delegates Council (NDC) day two meeting at KICC.

He has been replaced by Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni who was unanimously endorsed by delegates.

Tuju thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for entrusting him with the position of JP SG.

“Thank you for standing with me even at a personal level when I had a horrific accident until now I am able to stand here,” Tuju said.

He added: "“We have agreed with the president that he will give me other responsibilities going forward.”

At the same time, the NDC resolved to kick out Deputy President William Ruto as the party's deputy party leader.

The DP has been replaced by Kitutu chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi, Katobu Ngatobu, Naomi Shaban and Peter Mositet.

Ruto has since formed his party, United Democratic Alliance.

David Murathe retained his seat as the party's vice-chair.
