Two robbery suspects who escaped custody arrested

Detectives in Kiambu have rearrested two of the nine robberies with violence suspects who escaped from Thika Police Station last month. Livingstone Mwangi Njau, Francis Mwangi Matheri, Charles Nyaga, John Mbugua Murege, Eric Ngigi Musige, Athur Ndugu Kavemba, Bunton Kaguku Mbugua and Joseph Githu had been locked inside a safe cell but escaped under unclear circumstances.

But police yesterday said they had re-arrested two of the escapees and had leads that would enable them to arrest the remaining suspects. County police commander Muchangi Kioi, however, declined to name the re-arrested suspects. 

“We cannot disclose the names of those we have arrested but we know where the others are,” he said.
