UDA aspirant leaves nothing to chance as Kiambaa mini-poll beckons
The Kiambaa parliamentary seat hopeful on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket intensified his campaigns yesterday as the by-election date enters the homestretch.
Njuguna Wanjiku left nothing to chance as he criss-crossed the constituency holding town-hall meetings.
Wanjiku was joined by a host of female legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto at Sahara Park hotel.
The politicians accused the ruling party of deploying civil servants to conduct campaigns for Njama terming it an electoral offence and a sign of despair.
MPs Alice Wahome said that it is wrong for Beatrice Elachi, Priscilla Nyokabi and Rachel Shebesh as well as chiefs and their assistants to feature prominently in the Jubilee campaign trails where they allegedly dish out money to voters.
“We condemn their action although it has no significance to us because we shall win the poll by a landslide,” she said.
They warned that they would not allow any attempts to rig the election saying that they will be ready to guard their candidate’s votes at every polling centre.
Among the legislators present were Wahome, Liza Chelule, Jane Kihara, Faith Gitau, Milicent Omanga, Susan Kihika, Anab Gure, Aisha Jumwa, Gathoni Wamuchomba, as well as Ndindi Nyoro, Kimani Ichung’wah, Rigathi Gachagua and Irungu Kang’ata and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
Jumwa dispelled rumours that she is warming up to join ODM.
“I’m not a tenant in UDA. I am a landlord and therefore can never leave because the party will form the next government,” she said.
Wamuchomba said that she had left the Kieleweke faction due to lack of coordination. The by-electiuon is slated for July 15.
